Kevin Mills was a former bassist for the Newsboys. In 1992, he joined the Newsboys. Before joining, he played in the band "Noisy Little Sunbeams", who opened for the Newsboys five times. In either late 1994 or early 1995, Mills left to be the road manager for White Heart. He left White Heart around 1997 to pursue a career in acting in Hollywood. It was in Hollywood on December 3, 2000, when Mills, riding his motorbike, crashed into a truck and later died of head wounds in a local hospital. Newsboys' lead singer at the time, Peter Furler, issued a statement about Mills' death:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Kevin Mills. He was a vital part of the Newsboys' history and remained a close friend. Our hearts pour out to his family and are prayers are with them. He will be deeply missed."

He was married, but divorced in 1997.
